Yes, that's true...

With the new Intel Processor Apple Computers, you can run both Mac OS X and Windows XP.

Now there is no reason not to buy an Apple Computer. You will have the best of both worlds although it is my preference to run OS X.

At startup, you can choose which system you want to run, Mac OS X or Windows XP....
You can switch from system to system by restarting and selecting the system you want to run on.

You have to hand it to Steve Jobs.....

My reason for not getting a Mac now is that I've been putting it off until kinks are worked out with new Intel chips. Now I'm going to put off getting one until "Boot Camp" comes pre-installed with the next version of OS X at the end of the year. I don't know if I'm procrastinating or overly-cautious...??? I do know that I can't deal with software bugs.

Will one now need to install two solutions for internet security?

This was a low-key announcement from Apple but it certainly is big news!

MtnMama,

I understand your hesitation.
The new iMac G5 Intel units are having great success. I would however wait for Revision B. I don't think I would wait until December to get the new OS X Leopard though, but that is up to you. I also don't think I would install Boot Camp at this time as it is in Beta...
Just depends on how long you want to wait.

I wouldn't want to wait that long to get a new computer if I needed one.

The Operating System can be purchased and upgraded later. Yes, it will cost you a little more at that time, but then you would have had a new computer from now until December to use...

It would depend on the model of computer you are thinking about buying.
The new iBooks are not out yet with the Intel chip. These are going to be renamed "MacBook".
Not all the "MacBook Pros" have the Intel chip in them either.

The models that seem to be stable at this time are the iMacs with the Intel chaip in both the 17" and 20"screen sizes...

The Mac Mini is also stable but not many people would want or need this model. I only have one so I can test it out on a large screen TV as an addition to the Home Entertainment Center. It's working great for what I want it to do but really recommend others to purchase the regular iMac... The iMac is the best deal going in my opinion. I have two of them but with the older PPC chip instead of the new Intel chip.

See the iMac at the Apple Store:

Joe
Has there been any word about if they plan to put an Intel chip into the iBooks?
Some of us travellers might like the advantage of running both OS's too.

Peter,

Yes....... I believe the release date has been setback to June 1, 2006...
We will have to wait and see for these particular models.

Apple has mentioned that all of their product line will have the Intel Chip by summer of 2007.
